Akeley wood extension walk

Lockdown has been possibly kind to some and very cruel to others ..It has been a hard slog with no walks and the winter grind.I am extremely lucky to have been in work over the period and am intensely sorry for  the devastation it has caused on peoples lives.

Lockdown does present opportunities,  a time to explore.  The aim of this walk was to see where it took us. I had done a walk back and beyond in the pre Indy days with Monty in tow. He thought it was a great idea to go after a deer and jump the deer fence in the process..What he didn't realise was how to reunite with the human. Trying to lift a 30kg weight over a deer fence is no fun believe me,  but do our beasts learn? Of course they don't.

We set off on our "expedition " in the early morning frost with Paul and Storm in suitably feisty form. The route is standard fayre for those of you who have been on this walk, head up to the pond/ Blackpit and turned right along the cultivated field  heading away from the pond/lake..At the bridleway at the top, turn left to the circuit..Follow the path (heavy going in winter) to a gate in the far right corner and turn immediate left following the outer circuit. You will track next to the porsche centre and eventually break out into open ground by Stowe corner.

From Stowe corner, you can make your way down the magnificent Stowe avenue to the Wolfe obelisk..turn left before this and follow the right of way up to the arable field turning right to home.

A very good walk that is getting on for 11km taking 150mins for those who like that..

Cheers
